Faithful in the Fog: Trusting God When the Path Isn’t Clear

I was recently laid off from a ministry I helped start and grow. If I’m honest, I’d known for a while that it was time to move on, but inertia and the fear of uncertainty are powerful forces. The lay-off felt liberating and devastating at the same time—the kind of holy disruption only God can orchestrate.
In the weeks since, I’ve found myself in prayer more often, circling the same destabilizing question: What next?
I’m not entirely sure what the future holds. But I am learning that there are seasons that feel like walking through thick fog. You can’t see far ahead. The way forward is unclear. And in those moments, I’m remembering that God often gives just enough light to take the next, faithful step. Not the full roadmap. Not the five-year plan. Just enough to move forward in trust.

One step at a time.
Where are you asking God for clarity right now? What would it look like to take just the next faithful step instead of waiting for the whole picture?
Maybe that means having that hard conversation, delegating something you’ve been holding too lightly, or making a difficult decision that you know is right, but might be unpopular.
God hasn’t promised to be a floodlight. But He has promised to be a lamp—illuminating the path, each step of the way. Faithfulness in the fog is still faithfulness.
What's your next step?
Where is God nudging you? What is keeping you up at night, that you are sensing some shifts or changes in the road ahead? Where do you need help or encouragement? Where do you need to lean on God more? Will you choose to be faithful in the fog? Let's take these steps together.
Let’s grow the Kingdom. Together.
